Samurai Youth Program Mission

The mission of the Samurai Youth Program (SYP) is to support and grow economic, racial and cultural diversity in our dojo (school) and bring Aikido principles of harmony and creative conflict resolution into the greater Burlington community. We have a limited number of scholarships available for eligible children and teens.

PROGRAMS FOR TEENS AND CHILDREN

Aikido is an exciting, dynamic Japanese martial art which teaches how to blend with attacks and to throw and pin your attacker. While most martial arts rely on linear blocks, kicks and strikes, Aikido emphasizes circular, blending movements and a philosophy that promotes the peaceful resolution of conflict.

The Samurai Youth Program (SYP) provides children ages 5-12 (Children's Program) and teenagers ages 13-17 (Teen Program) traditional Aikido training.  In addition, the SYP actively teaches children and teens conflict resolution skills and anti-bullying strategies.  SYP teens develop leadership skills and learn how to apply Aikido’s unique philosophy of conflict resolution in their daily lives.
