Class Descriptions
Children: For children ages 7 - 12.
These classes integrate Aikido
techniques,
Aikido-related games and methods to resolve conflict without using
violence. Intermediate Children's classes are for teens and kids who have
progressed in their Aikido training beyond the scope of the regular kid's
class.
Introductory: These classes are
structured for students new to
Aikido. Emphasis is on ukemi (falling), physical conditioning and
basic
techniques.
Basics: The emphasis in Basics classes is on foundational
techniques.
These classes are recommended for students of all levels.
All Levels: All level classes are faster paced. New
students
with less than one month of experience should ask for permission to attend
these classes.
Weapons:Aikido weapons are the
foundation for understanding
empty hands
technique. Aiki-ken and Aiki-jo are taught in these classes.
Permission
of instructor and at least 3 months of Aikido empty hands practice is
required.
Intermediate: These classes are by permission of the
instructor.
Free Practice: These timeslots are to give students additional
time on the mat to help refine technique and prepare for testing.
Zazen: Seated meditation.
Iaido: The art of quick draw sword.
This class is taught by
Benjamin Pincus. Instructor's permission is required.
UVM class: University of Vermont Physical Education Aikido
Class. This class is open to members of Aikido of Champlain Valley. This
class is
only available during the UVM academic year .

Street location. Visitors are always welcome (please examine the above
schedule for class hours).
Keikogi, bokken, and jo are available for purchase at
the dojo.
